Santa left his sleigh at home and instead took to the water when the River Stour Trust held its first ever Santa Boat Rides at The Granary, Quay Lane, Sudbury on Sunday 16 December.
The event comprised a 30-minute festive river cruise with Santa and his crew of elves followed by a small gift for children, mince pies and mulled wine or hot chocolate in Mrs. Claus’s Tea Room.
Catherine Burrows, Trust Administrator, said:
“The event was a last-minute brainwave and we were delighted when tickets sold out within 2 weeks! The feedback was very positive and our volunteers thoroughly enjoyed taking part too. Next year we hope that Santa and his elves will be able to visit us for a few more days.”
The Santa Boat Rides event marked the last River Stour Trust boat trip of the year. It is intended for boat trips to be available at Sudbury, Flatford and Dedham from Spring 2019. At Sudbury, the boats are due to be available at the end of March 2019 for Mother’s Day cruises.
The River Stour Trust’s annual events calendar and boat trips are made possible by its team of dedicated volunteers. Proceeds from the charity’s activities help to restore and conserve the River Stour Navigation for the benefit of everyone.
