Long ago an Anglo-Saxon noble was buried within a 90 foot longship in a mound at Sutton Hoo, just across the river from Woodbridge. He was almost certainly King Raedwald, who died in 624. The ship was not discovered until 1939 – by then all that remained was its imprint in the sand. The Sutton Hoo Ships Company is now building a full-size replica using authentic ship-building methods.
We are pleased to welcome David Pryor, volunteer crew from the Sutton Hoo Ship Company, who will talk about this impressive project, the progress they have made and the challenges they have faced.
Doors open at 6pm, with optional ‘Fish & Chip’ supper at 7pm, followed by the 1-hour talk when people have finished eating (around 7:45pm). The Granary bar will be open during this event (there will not be hot drinks available).
Capacity is limited so tickets are restricted to 6 people maximum per booking. This is a pre-booked event and payment is due at time of booking. The food must be pre-ordered and the closing date for amending food orders is 3pm on Thursday 17th April. Anyone cancelling after this date will be charged.

Proceeds from the event go towards the restoration and conservation of the Suffolk and Essex River Stour Navigation for the education and benefit of the public.
